Hilary Erhard Duff was born to Robert Erhard Duff and Susan Colleen Cobb on September 28, 1987. This Houston native made an early start to her acting career upon encouragement from her mother. Hilary Duff and her elder sister were coached in acting and were soon landing roles in local theater productions.

Hilary Duff relocated to California with her mother in order to establish an acting career.
